A Board of Directors, elected
by members of the water district, operates North Kootenai Water
District. Each Board Member is elected to a six-year term. Regular board
meetings are held on the 1st & 3rd Thursday of each month at 12:30 P.M.
at the water district office.

INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR ACCOUNT WITH NORTH KOOTENAI WATER DISTRICT
We would like to welcome you as a customer of North Kootenai Water
District. Please note, all new customers are required to apply for
service via written 'Application for Service' within 5 days of
closing on property. Failure to do so could result in termination
of service.

Customer Service
We realize that
unexpected expenses can make balancing your budget difficult. Our
customer service representative will be happy to set up a temporary
payment plan to help you through an emergency.
If you feel you are not
using the amount of water you have been billed for, or you hear water
running when all faucets, etc., are shut off…please call us, we can
check the meter to detect leakage in service lines. We have a bill
adjustment program for underground leaks. Call and ask our customer
representative for the details, if you find you have an underground
leak. We also offer counseling and information on water conservation.
Billing
Your water meter will be read approximately every 30 days, except during
the winter months when meters are inaccessible, and then your use will
be estimated.
You will receive your water bill in the mail a few days after the
reading or estimation date. You can still call our office for
information on when you can expect your bill and how the bill is
calculated.
Deposits
New applicants for water service must provide a security deposit in the
amount of twenty-dollars ($20.00) If after twelve continuous months, all
bills have been paid in a timely manner and no penalties have been
incurred, the applicant may request the deposit be applied against the
account balance. In the event, the applicant discontinues service in
less than one year; the deposit will be applied against the final bill.
In any case, no interest shall be paid on the deposit.
Service Termination
Payments of monthly water charges for all single family, duplexes and
multiple family residences shall be the responsibility of the property
owner.
Your monthly water bill and other fees and charges are due and payable
upon presentation and become delinquent if not paid within thirty days
(30) thereafter.
If bills, fees and/or charges are not paid within sixty days (60) of
presentation, water service will be discontinued.
Notification to the debtor will be by regular United States mail,
postmarked not less than fifteen days (15) prior to the date of
discontinuance.
At least twenty-four hours (24) prior to the water service being
discontinued, a door hanger will be posted on the delinquent property.
North Kootenai Water District will add to the delinquent balance a
twenty-dollar ($20.00) fee for this service.
If water service is discontinued for non-payment, it will remain off
until the delinquent balance plus a twenty-dollar ($20.00) reconnection
fee is paid in full. NO payment arrangements will be accepted once
service is shut off for non-payment.
Water service will only be restored between 8:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M.,
Monday through Friday, excepting North Kootenai District’s defined
holidays.
Checks returned for non-sufficient funds will result in the addition of twenty-dollar ($20.00) handling fee to the customer’s water account.
Disputes
You may file a complaint with the District service representative in
person or in writing. We will promptly investigate your complaint and
inform you of the results. If you are not satisfied with the results,
you may request a decision from the Board of Directors of North Kootenai
Water District.
Current Water Rates:
All Systems EXCEPT Gozzer Ranch:
Single family, duplexes and multi-family residential & commercial water
users of North Kootenai Water District shall pay a minimum of $15.00 per
dwelling unit, per month, plus consumption.
Consumption Rate Structure as follows:

Metered Lots - $46.18 per dwelling unit, per month (includes 15,000
gallons of water).
Un-Metered Lots - $44.75 per dwelling unit, per month.

Debt Service Surcharge:
$3.82 per dwelling unit or commercial unit per month.
Customers
of Hayden Pines Water Company formed North Kootenai Water District in
1991. In 1998 the customers voted in favor of a bond to purchase Hayden
Pines Water Company. The $3.82 charge per month is for the monthly bond
payment. This amount will be adjusted yearly. As the customer base
increases, the amount you pay per month will be reduced. This “Debt
Service Surcharge” will appear on your monthly statement until the bond
is paid in full.

Water used for other than fire
suppression or testing will be billed at $100.00 per occurrence.
Basic Rate for Park Maintenance:
Residential water customers living on Valley Way and Meadow Way in the
Valley Green Subdivision pay a park maintenance flat rate of $5.16 per
dwelling unit per month.
Basic Rate for Street Lights:
Residential water customers living on Valley Way and Meadow Way in the
Valley Green Subdivision pay a street light flat rate of $2.78 per
dwelling unit per month.
How to Pay your Bill
North Kootenai Water District is pleased to announce that we now accept Visa
& Mastercard for payment processing. Click on 'Pay Your Bill Online',
and simply fill in the information requested. Your payment will be
automatically processed!
